Sulfamethazine (SMZ) is a member of Sulfonamides (SAs). Sulfonamides (SAs) is a kind of synthesized drug with broad spectrum antimicrobial activity, which is used as a feed additive to make the livestock with more weight, and to prevent or cure bacterial-infected disease such as enteral infection, mastitis, pneumonia and so on. Since it can remain in human body and harmful to human. Sulfamethazine (SMZ) is a cancerogen and can lead to dizzy, headache, vomit and so on. It also causes hemolytic anemia, agranulocytosis, allergy and hurts urinary system and cranial nerve system. Moreover, it can increase the incidence of drug-residue strain. So far, many countries including China, European Union, USA and Japan, have all regulate that the gross residue of SAs in animal food and feed.
