Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV)
Rapid CDIATM Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) kits are intended for the detection of TMV in infected host plants include vegetable, fruit, and ornamentals.
TMV is an extremely stable virus that causes diseases in a very wide host range which includes at least 199 species from 30 plant families. It is normally transmitted mechanically or sometimes by chewing insects. In tobacco the virus elicits a mosaic but may also cause veinbanding. One of the common control methods for TMV is sanitation, which includes removing infected plants, and washing hands in between each planting.
