The CDIATM Chlortetracycline Colloidal Gold Test Cassette (Aquatic Products) is a lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of chlortetracycline in aquatic products.
Chlortetracycline antigen is coated on the test region of the nitrocellulose membrane of the strips, and chlortetracycline antibody is labeled with colloid gold. During a test, the colloid gold labeled antibody coated in the strip move forward along the membrane, and a red line will show up when the antibody gathers with the antigen in the test line; if chlortetracycline in the sample is over the detection limit, line T is blank; on the other wise, if chlortetracycline in the sample is less than the detection limit, line T is red.
Chlortetracycline, also known as aureomycin, is a tetracycline antibiotic, the first tetracycline to be identified. It is active against gram-positive cocci, especially staphylococcus, pneumococcal bacteria. In aquaculture, oxytetracycline is widely used in disease prevention and treatment, but the residue of oxytetracycline is harmful for consumers.
