The CDIATM Pb Immunofluorescence Test Strip (Milk) is a lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of Pb in Milk.
The Test is a competitive binding immunoassay in which Pb in a sample compete with immobilized Pb conjugate for limited labeled antibody binding sites. When a sufficient amount of specimen is applied to the sample pad of the test device, the specimen migrates through the test device by capillary action. The Pb in the sample combines with the antibody labeled with the fluorescent microspheres, and inhibits the binding of the antibody and Pb on the NC membrane test line (T line) , thus resulting in changes in the fluorescence intensity of the T and C line. Read the result by using the fluorescence reader.
Lead is a chemical element with symbol Pb (from the Latin plumbum). It is a heavy metal with a density exceeding that of most common materials. In the late 19th century, lead was recognized as highly toxic, and since then it has been phased out for many applications. Lead is a neurotoxin that accumulates in soft tissues and bones, damaging the nervous system and causing brain disorders and, in mammals, blood disorders.
