Vancomycin was isolated from a soil sample collected deep in the interior jungle of Borneo. Vancomycin is indicated for the treatment of serious, life-threatening infections by gram-positive bacteria. In particular, vancomycin should not be used to treat methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus because it is inferior to penicillins such as nafcillin.
CDIATM Vancomycin Test Kit is based on competitive indirect colloid gold immunochromatography technology, in which vancomycin in sample competes for the colloid gold labeled antibody with vancomycin coupling antigen captured on test line. The test result can be observed by naked eye.
