Hb, Hp-Hb (haptoglobin-haemoglobin)

Rapid CDIA^TM Hb, Hp-Hb kits are intended for the qualitative detection of human occult blood in feces, as a screen for early colon cancer.

Haptoglobin binds free hemoglobin (Hb) released from erythrocytes with high affinity and thereby inhibits its oxidative activity. Therefore, Haptoglobin-haemoglobin complex has a higher survival rate within the digestive tract than haemoglobin. By detecting the protein complex haemoglobin-haptoglobin (Hb-Hp) in addition to haemoglobin (Hb) in feces, CDIA^TM Hb, Hb-Hb kits meaningfully increases the sensitivity for occult blood, including bleeding from upper digestive tract.
