M. Pneumoniae (Mycoplasma Pneumoniae )
Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) is an "atypical" that causes lung infection. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a common cause of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). The extrapulmonary manifestations are sometimes of greater severity and clinical importance than the primary respiratory infection. Outbreaks of M. pneumoniae occur mostly in crowded environments, where transmission is possible through airborne droplets from close person-to-person contact. However, not everyone who is exposed to M. pneumoniae develops pneumonia.
