Rapid CDIATM quinolones test are intended for qualitative determination of quinolones in foods.
Quinolones are a family of synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotics. They prevent bacterial DNA from unwinding and duplicating. They are widely used in different lines of poultry, cattle, agriculture and beekeeping for its excellent antibacterial and pharmacokinetic properties. There is evidence that quinolones in food animals lead to the emergence of quinolone-resistant bacteria in animals. The resistant organisms are transmitted to humans via direct contact with the animal or through the consumption of contaminated food and water. If residues are beyond the acceptable levels, quinolone active metabolites are harmful to human health.
