RF (Rheumatoid factor)

Rapid CDIATM RF kits are intended for the diagnosis and monitoring of rheumatoid arthritis by measuring the amount of the RF in the blood.

RFs (Rheumatoid factors) are antibodies against the Fc portion of IgG. They can belong to any isotype of immunoglobulin, IgA, IgM, IgG, IgD, IgE.  The RF targets IgG proteins and combines with them to form deposits that lodge into joints and tissues. Rheumatoid factor is present in about 80% of adults with rheumatoid arthritis. Patients with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis have greater disease severity and disease progression, as well as a worse prognosis than patients with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis. Some healthy people can have rheumatoid factor, too. And some people with RA don’t have it. So, this test can’t be used alone for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis.
